Phoenix, AZ, November 21, 2024 – The Todd Ramsey Memorial Scholarship Foundation, founded by Judy Ramsey and Bill Jackson, has officially been launched and is accepting scholarship applications and financial donations at www.toddramseyscholarship.com.
This pioneering initiative honors Todd’s career and values by providing students interested in car audio, security and integration with a pathway to technical and business education. The first of the $1,000 and $2,000 biannual scholarships will be awarded in March of 2025. Recipients can use scholarship awards to attend industry training events and formal training schools, to receive MECP certification training and exams, and to buy the necessary tools of the trade. High School seniors, recent graduates, GED holders and new entrants to the industry are all invited to apply.
“Our ultimate goal is to deliver a whole new inspired generation of qualified technicians, passionate sales staff, and competent shop operators to the industry”, said Judy Ramsey, Todd’s widow and Co-Founder of the 501(c)(3) organization.
Serving as Co-Founder alongside Judy is the former President and CEO of Rockford Corp., Bill Jackson, who is now Sr. Operations Business Advisor to Rockford’s parent organization, Patrick Industries, Inc. (PATK). Bill commented, “To my knowledge, there has never been a program like this for the car audio industry, and I couldn’t be more pleased to help lead the effort. The impact we make with this scholarship foundation will serve the industry for many decades to come.”
About The Todd Ramsey Memorial Scholarship Foundation: Todd Ramsey was a renowned 12-volt industry consultant, having started a car stereo shop at the age of 18 in southern California. His deep understanding of automotive electronics led him to design audio and electrical systems from the ground up for cars, motorcycles, UTVs and marine applications. He later took his technical prowess to Europe to train other technicians and advance the car audio industry in England and Turkey. Todd’s encyclopedic knowledge of cars and automotive technology later took him to Arizona, where he was a trade school instructor, and consultant with CEA, MECP, SEMA, SkillsUSA, and served for a time as editor of Mobile Electronics Magazine. Todd’s generosity of time and resources combined with his unrelenting quest for knowledge is reflected in the goal of this scholarship foundation: to make training affordable and accessible to young enthusiasts. He lost his short battle with cancer on October 6, 2023.
